    The list

Since I started in IM a few years ago I have got myself on various IM marketers' lists. Either from buying a product or just to learn from them. Most of the time all they do is promote products and don't really offer any thing else. Is this because their leads are warm enough that they trust this marketer enough to buy from them because they are established in the community?

Some bombard you frequently and some are more selective and only promote for close JV partners. The "bombarding" style personally annoys me but is it more or as effective than being selective in the long run?

Is it a case of offering your subscribers freebies until you have a reputation, most of the big players don't appear to do this.

    Appreciate all comments. Thanks.

Alan, as one of the better known Newbie Start Up guys back in the late 90s and early 20s, I always recommended ... and still do, that you offer your subscribers content and value before trying to sell to them. As your self and product brand grows, and your relationship with your lead list matures ... it should get easier to sell to them. But that doesn't mean you should get carried away, IMHO.

I honestly think that at the end of the day, even the 'Gurus' that offer content and value over non stop promotions benefit more ... but often times, many established Marketers promote to their general "freebie' lists (general list of make money Online type leads that are usually brought on by a free offer) in a consistently aggressive manner ... and despite the many unsubscribes, still manage to add far more leads than they lose ... and choose to market that way. Not my cup of tea, but it works for them.

Also understand that most established Marketers have many lists ... topic specific sub lists, individual launch lists, 'freebie' lists, customer lists, multiple customer lists, etc. ... that are all Marketed to in different ways. Success with any of them comes from testing, tracking, and time.

A popular trend has been to develop low ticket ClickBank products, and pay JV partners the maximum 75% ... some paid on top of that to max out at 100% commission, and more .. with the mindset that the whole campaign's purpose is to generate a customer lead list at the purchase price dollar value ... for example, a major ClickBank product launch may make 5 to 10,000 sales, at $67 per sale. That gives the owner a customer list qualified at $67 per sale ... generated in only 7 days. Easily worth making absolutely no money on the launch ... even taking a loss, over time.

I'm not the list building king around here, though ... others may have different opinions and results which I'd be glad to hear.

    Best,

    Mike

    Thanks Mike.

I agree with you about building the relationship slowly and the other stuff is very interesting especially to stay in the game for the long haul.

I also agree with that. I would write quality news letter or even design your own video courses to send to your list before you sell to them. Once you have their trust your going to be far better off.
