    A Newbies First Launch ...

    Hi,

Basically i've always hated the idea's of lists, however after many careful months of research i now realise its the only way to make serious money online.

This will be my first product launch; so i want to make sure i have all the peices of the jigsaw before i put it together.

I currently have a broad market product aimed at a specific niche (which i hope to be very profitable), a catchy name, i'm sure i can design + create an amazing website & sales copy but ...

MARKETING. I have no idea where to start. hence the JV.

I just need some help finding (a) partner/s - should i wait till i've finished my product then find people? How can you go about finding JV partners in your niche?

Just i know that there is a market for my product, however if its isolated (no JV partners to promote it) then there is no profit in it - thus no point in me finishing my product.

Ideally, im looking for 10k-20k total on a double opt-in list, is this figure too large?

Sorry for all the questions, just need to get this part down ASAP so i know what to get working on really!

    Cheers,

    Jamie

    Hi Jamie,

My favorite method for finding JV partners is to search for people who run forums, just like this one except dedicated to the niche I'm targeting. The great thing about forums is that people don't tend to register on forums just to look around, they are there to discuss something they are passionate about so it makes them an easier sale . Finding forums with potential JV partners is actually very easy, for example lets say I wanted to find people who own forums in the dog training niche. I would go to google and search for this:

    vbulletin dog training

As you can see from the search results, things brings back a list of forums that mentioned "dog training"and are hosted on the forum software vulletin which has a built in "newsletter" feature. The first result is for http://forums.ukcdogs.com/ which has over 33,000 members so right there you have your first potential JV partner. The next forum is http://www.puppy-stuff.com/puppy-talk/index.php which has over 5,000 members and then the rest of the results don't seem to be about our niche so we'll ignore those.

Now we can move on to the 2nd search string which search for phpBB forums about doing training:

    phpBB dog training

As you can see from the search this one has more results because phpBB is free while vbulletin costs money. Again you just go through the search results and look for dog and dog training related forums, in this search term the first one that comes up is http://www.seefido.com/dog-discussion-forum/index.php which has 8,000+ registered members.

So without even going beyond the first page you've already found 3 potential JV partners and 46,000+ potential customers and subscribers, all you have to do now is replace "dog training" with the niche your after. Obviously the next step is to approach the owner/admin of the forum and pitch your JV offer but remember to stick to the rules.

    1. Don't ask them to promote your product right off the bat, register at their forum first and make helpful posts and if possible help out the admin. A lot of times you'll see them test out something like adsense or banner ads but they make simple mistakes like not blending in the color scheme or putting them in positions where the ads would have a low click through rate. Just sending them a simple PM saying "hey why don't you try this" etc can quickly put you in the owner/admin's good graces.

    2. After about 3-6 months then you can approach them and introduce them to your product, if it all possible actually get them involved by doing an audio interview. Frank Kern likes to call this "guilt by association" and IMO it's the best way to garauntee you'll get a JV partner. Remember that JV partnerships are all about relationships.

    3. Make sure there is zero risk for them, process the payments through clickbank so they know thier payments are garaunteed.

    Good luck.

    Phenomenal Tips Tourched..

Though I have not launched any product yet, but another way to approach potential JVs can b by promoting their products 1st.

Infact thats what Mike also suggests in JVnotifypro. One of the criterias for eligibility for premium mailing is that the products of other members should have been promoted 1st.

By doing that you are establishing good terms with the potential JVs.

Thank you, Torched. I was wondering about this same question. Is this what Frank Kern calls the Howitzer method?

I don't know about the 'Howitzer Method' but Jeff Johnson has discussed the idea of promoting forums on one of his coaching club videos he placed on You tube. The idea is that you talk about the great information you found on the forum and some specific detail that helped you. (Either the products sold or the info on the forum).

As long as you have trackbacks and pingbacks on, you'll get noticed. This works especially on sites where posts are confirmed by the webmaster - After all, they have to read the post before they approve it.

It's just another way of getting known.

I agree. After all, that's kind of what we're all doing here, isn't it? I mean, networking. Reaching out and meeting new people with the same goals. But, this forum has a bit more specific purpose. To find JV's.

How often are JV deals made here? I've looked around a bit, but I'm still reading everything.

I'm glad to see you have changed your thinking on list building!

Is your niche in www.clickbank.com ? If it is, see how your possible JVs are marketing their products. As a new player it is always good to show you are in it for the long haul. So building relationships is a must. I would look to offer those JVs a higher commission. 75% rather than 50%... this gives you a better chance of them saying yes! Of course your product needs to be up to scratch and what their list is looking for... but adding incentives above the norm can help.

If you need any help let me know. I am happy for you to PM me and I can help with your search. As you haven't listed the niche I assume you don't want anyone to know. Of course I wont pass it on to anyone else.

    Cheers,

    Nath

    Wonderful post Torched.

I'm looking to launch a new product in a non-IM niche here in about a month and being my first one, you've just given me a wealth of information to attract affiliates/JV's. Thank you.

Most of my time, other than product creation, will be spent on finding and taking care of those that promote my product.

Hi Jamie, if your looking to aquire your own list, and you currently dont have one or wish to ad to your current list there are several good sources for list renting. I would recommend http://www.rent-a-list.com. Of course renting 20,000 would not be cheap.

    Hi Jamie!

Just wanted to add that you would want to do the home work that your JV partners are supposed to do especially if its your first product...

    Like
    1. Creating an extra freebie exclusively for the people on their list!
    2. Commissions on the backend products (Which btw you MUST start planning before you launch youyr first product)
    3. Take time to get to know the person with whom you wish to have a JV partnership. Remember, its one thing to ask a stranger for JVing and its another to call a friend for promoting your product... NETWORKing is the name of the game!
    4. Think of how you can reciprocate!
    5. Have a list, start building one from scratch!
    6. Learn how to "Create" traffic!
