Is this something we can all learn from and do?

Most of us have spent the long long hours and
days it requires to create product worthy of much
needed JV promotions. Some of us are able to
pay others to create some or all of the aspects
needed to create the product and all that goes
with it. We are all aware we are up against many
more product creators who have just taken an older
    product and poorly rewritten it.

So it's with complete understanding that our request
for help from a potential JV partner may go unheard.
Even a request to a JV broker may have the same
response, such as I have had from my message to
our forum leader, Mike. I guess even he is swamped
with those same requests from both new guys with
good products and those with junk as well as requests
    from the bigger dogs.

It can be very disheartening and demoralizing when
some of the big dogs you have known for years, simply
say they have no time to even read your work, but
have all the time in the world when it comes to something
that may help their bottom line. Such was the response
I got a couple of days ago from a very well respected big
dog in the web2.0 field. Not only did he not want to waste
his time reading my work, but he felt his list would find it
no benefit as he had already given them a 5 page 'how to
sign up to squidoo' ebook already and that is all they need
    to know.

But, yesturday came not 1 but 2 much needed emails from
guys, both respected in the web2.0 arena, who took the time
to read my book and thus put me back in a much more
    positive frame of mind.

Here's a small quote from the first..
I'll be honest at first I thought "Oh no not ANOTHER book on Squidoo" but you really did a great job.
    and then later this...

Hey Karl, well to be honest I was expectiing just another basic book on Squidoo but this is just amazing!

I havent actually read the whole thing yet but I dont have to in order to know that what you have created is a great product and I can tell you that I know of no other Squidoo how to guide that is more complete then this one here. Might I add it is very well written and easy to follow....
Not only was that a great reason to carry on, but I learnt that
if ever I am in the position to help another with a top quaility product
that is within my field... then a short email saying something similar
to those above only takes 5 mins and can go a long way to give a
    much needed boost.

    Hey Karl,

I do understand your frustration. Sometimes it doesn't matter how
great your product is but who you are and who you know

But once you get even one of the bigger guys to give you some great
feedback then the rest usually follows. That's just how it works sometimes.

Don't get discouraged! Contact as many people as you can and some will
agree to read you work and some will not. If the product is great and you get
some positive feedback, it will be much easier to get more attention later.

Keep in mind that those who say that you didn't provide value in your work
might be just saying that, because they have never actually read it. Sometimes they
just quickly look at the Contents of the book, and think they know everything about it
without actually reading it. Don't blame them though...they are busy with their own projects
and sometimes they just don't have the time to fully review what you have created.

    Hi Karl

It sounds like you have a great product with some great reviews by Jv's.

But if you want to get JV's it's about the relationships you have with people and those take time to build.

No matter what you will never be able to get everybodys to say yes to your product no matter how good it might be.

But going back to getting JV's they have more opp. to promote great stuff then they can handle. One of the ways I look at what I'm going to promote in my niche sites is who do I have a relationships with?

So the real question is how do you build relationships with people you don't know?

First buy there product..maybe even they most $$$ product and use it and let them know what you thoguht of it.

Mail them a letter telling then what you thought of it. Email is the last option as people get to much of it to start with.

Find out there goals are and what you can do to him them. May be you could promote for them in the future or do a solo mailing for them.

Harris Fellman did a mailing for me in January and last month out of the blue I overnighted him a care package from a rib joint just to say thank you one more time.

If you help other people they will in turn help you

    Thanks
    Charles

Re: Is this something we can all learn from and do?

    thanks guys for your input..

But the post was not really about getting jvs.

I talk about jvs in the post so you understand
the place I am at and how, even with long term
relationships with said jvs, one can get in a rut.

The post is really about what we can do to give
each other a boost in order to keep going. Even
if we are unable to promote one anothers product,
sometimes just adding a paragraph showing that
you did take the time to read the product and
giving your point of view of if it is really good...
    can go a long way.

I guess much in the same way you two have given
in this post to spur me on the right path to find
JVs, those 2 email testimonials have spured me on
to the finish line of the product creation completion.

    K
