Hey Rob,
It must say that it was an excellent read.Great research, nicely compiled.
I agree to the fact that Facebook and other social networks are where the future of internet marketing lies.Facebook, actually combines all the excellent features of e-mail,photo sharing and microblogging. Here Curtis is spot on in noticing that Facebook "Status Update" is much better than tweeting a message(which can have only 140 characters at the most and allows very little interaction).
Among the social networks, there is no player to give FB serious competition.LinkedIn is too professional,Myspace has almost died and Youtube is a little more specific. Last year Twitter saw an unprecedented growth and seemed to be inching ahead but now it's stagnating. The reason behind Twitter's stagnation is it's relative lack of flexiblity.Their restriction in the no. of chatracters one can have in his/her tweets ,plus the lack of interactive features ,take the personal touch out of their platform and make it almost mechanical. One doesn't have much chance to engage one's followers unless he re-directs them to a website or blog.
FB on the other hand has many viral features to allow one to engage a lot no. of people in his conversations. For now this platform seems perfect to increase brand awareness, build a loyal customer base and add value to your existing customers.
Now more and more people are using FB's private messaging facility to interact with their family, friends and professional circle and this has led to a decrease in the use of e-mail ,which is certainly going to have a severe impact on e-mail marketing in the near future. We are certainly going to be more dependent on FB to interact with our peospects in coming days.
Best Regards,
Vivek

i use fb ads to promote our product and website. its amazing how much traffic and clicks fb delivers. I like it because of the hyper geo targeting options. I can choose the smallest of niches to target. those who like real estate, donald trump, investing, etc. I have like 30 targets so i know the people who click it are serious about real estate investing and short sales.
good stuff and info,
