If you are comfortable in front of the camera video works really well.
If you aren't my suggestion is to leave the camera running and just play around- be silly, use different accents... until you've taken all the pressure off yourself and start to forget about being on screen- at that point you're natural strengths/ personality will shine through.
Insiders tip- avoid looking just at the lense of the camera. It is ideal if you have someone sat just behind the camera- look at and talk to them. This will have an effect on the ultimate viewer- they will more likely perceive you are genuinely talking directly to them.
