Hey Michael,

You mentioned that you wrote two articles and nothing happened? With all due respect, that's like running a PPC ad for a day. Article marketing is a continuous effort with testing and work involved. Some articles you write will be duds while others will be winners.

There are several factors in determining the success of an article (I'm sure I'll miss some):

Niche and keywords - If you pick the wrong ones, then you'll be wasting your time. If you select a good niche (proven market) and good keywords (buying keywords, not looky-loo keywords), then you're setting yourself up for success.

Landing page - EzineArticles.com doesn't allow affiliate links, so you'll have to point your articles there to your own landing page, be it a review site or a squeeze page or a presell page. Needless to say, if your landing page is crap, then you aren't going to make any money.

Article headline - If you don't have a catchy headline, you won't get any eyeballs on your article. Numbers (e.g. 7 steps to, 5 deadly secrets, etc.) and controversy always seem to garner attention.

Article body - Don't make the article hard to read. Outline your points in bullets and have a persuasive call to action at the end in your author bio box. But be careful! Don't reveal any info in your article, or else there will be no point for the reader to continue onto your site! The point of your article is to pique their interest and to get them to click on your link!

Best,
Curtis
