Should newbie affiliates ask for Review Copies

Hey everyone I am a newbie affiliate and basically this is my first post.

I hope to go all out on my next affiliate promotion and I have alot of
ideas already for my own product which I hope to release soon.

The question I ask is when you are promoting a new product release
as an affiliate should you ask for a review copy?

I have tried a few times to contact the product owners on a new release
to see what I can an cannot do but with mostly no replies.

    Please help.

    Yours,

    Aaron Lamont

You have to think of this from the product owner's stand point. He or she may get a dozen or so emails everyday asking for a review copy. How many of these requests are real vs freebie seekers?

Would you go to clickbank and email product owners about getting a review copy?

If you really want to promote it then the best way is to make some calls to the owner, or be able to give a proven track record of sales.

    Thanks

How would I get in contact with product owners, its hard to get a response from certain emails etc, a few are on this forum and the warrior forum but what about the rest.

Also phone numbers, I dont want the product owners to think that I am a freebie seeker I just want more information to write an indept review etc of the product to get a better feel for it.

I usually buy the products on clickbank and then write a review but for new launches, this is why I ask.

    Aaron Lamont.

More often than not, serious affiliate marketers have contact information somewhere on their sites, although certainly not always. If not, you can always do a search for the owner's name (which often works) or check WhoIs (which works less often).

I think your best tactic would be to offer them some form of assistance rather then asking them to give you something. This is the fundamental strategy for success in this business.

Offer help....the rest will take care of itself.

    I agree with Todd.

Most people ask for review copies, but later on just don't benefit the owner of the product.

Their time is valuable, so before requesting anything from them - it really comes down to what we can do for them first.

I will not mind asking one..basically a newbie affiliate should take in consideration
the reputation of the product and its author.
for example if you are in the IM niche
you can very well buy and try out the methods stated in the product
and if you think its quality then promote it.

If you have no proven track record why are you asking for the review copy? It sounds like you don’t have a list you want to recommend only quality products to, so are you just trying to get free material? What would be the point of getting the review copy in your case?

Re: Should newbie affiliates ask for Review Copies

I address this on a case by case example.

I usually do a little investigation of their website, checking alexa ranking, back links, etc. Usually you can get an idea and "feel" for the person and see where they are at.

It's very common for me to get requests for "evaluation" copies and I do give them out if I can see they have some expertise and seem to know what they are doing.

I do help my affiliates as much as possible. In many cases they didn't need a review copy, they just needed some help with how to go about promoting it, which of course I was happy to provide.

Also I don't only worry about a list, as some of my affiliates do very well with no list in the web 2.0 game.

    Cheers

    Tim
