One of the promises I made myself, when we started our latest product development project, was to turn our product selection approach into a process (rather than a project).

This time around we had a lot of back-end infrastructure to build and test, but next time it'll be largely in place - and we want to exploit that investment deeply - for the benefit of oursleves and our JV Partners.

There are a bunch of factors to consider, if you're going to do this well, and what takes the time is collecting data to assess the likely value of product ideas - price points, volume, competition etc. (Brainstorming the ideas is quick and fun in comparison!)

Obviously, Google is a key resource here - but I was wondering if anyone could suggest any other useful sources of information to inform the process (preferably aggregated and analysed)?

Thanks in advance,
Philip Greenwood
