    Advice on pricing, oto etc

I've been working on a product for the last month and am now trying to work out the pricing and oto components. The core content will be 10 Videos(about 6 hours) of tutorials + eBook and guide.

I was initially going to set it up as the base product + a monthly membership as I'll be adding new content each month.

I'm now considering making the base product only the videos/ebook/guide and making the oto the membership + bonuses with a monthly recurirng fee.

I have plenty of new content lined up for each month so I'm looking for recommendations from the pros as to which would be more appealing. As an example

Option 1: Base prod: 10 Vids, ebook, guide, monthly membership
OTO: 1 time purchase - more videos, ebooks etc.

    Option 2: Base prod 10 vids,ebook, guide - 1 time purchase
OTO: Monthly membership - more videos ebooks, etc each month

    Thanks,

    Jeff

    Hi Jeff,

It's impossible to say for sure because it depends on your industry in a lot of ways.

However, personally, Option 2 sounds more appealing. It sounds like option 2 would appeal to an impulse buyer who REALLY wants your information for the long haul.

Even though it's a OTO, I would still send the offer in an email after the initial purchase to upgrade Sometimes people overlook things or hit the wrong button and you lose the sale because they simply made a navigational mistake on your site.

That said...make sure your OTO is clear, concise, and concrete.

    Hope this helps,

    Memberships are hardER to sell.

So I would not recommend you use OTO's for selling memberships. Infact if it is a membership program, why bother with an OTO?

Give them first month membership free as a bonus with your product which is just the BAIT to get them on your member's list! And ten tell them that they can cancel anytime within the 30 days if they don't like to continue! If they wan't to continue, they have to do nothing and will be billed after 30 days.

    Cool!

I'll be adding plenty of content each month plus having monthly calls, news letters and a ton of bonuses, but my thought is that some people just want the basics.

I'm going to be using the Butterfly Script for running my membership. I know members will get value from the product, just wasn't sure which was more appealing, a monthly comittment for ongoing content or a onetime fee to get access to the bonuses.

I wish there was an easy way to upsell the monthly membership cost by XX dollars without having to create another subscription, so I'm looking for the best scenario.

    Please, keep the suggestions coming.

    Here's what I would do...

Keep the front end product price low. Below $50.
    Have a OTO.

In your front end product, as a bonus, give them free
30 days access to your membership.

That's it. This should work well. The more value you
give in the front end product, the more it will work.

If not, change the pricing of your front end product
to a $1 trial to your membership, then offer a OTO
    when they sign up.

The 2nd option is much easier to get customers with
    much better conversion.

I plan on using a similar model to this... (your option 2).

    *Frontend*

    > Sell product on front end
    > Upsell product (extra videos + secret report etc)

    *Backend*

Before download page > OTO for Membership (recurring) > Yes/No > Download Area

I'm doing the same thing as Adeel. This way you get more buyers on the front end and move people through the system faster.

    Thanks

This is true.. I can see getting them to move through the sale process quicker and since they are already in the buying mode then
they will opt for the membership. (I've seen the free 30 and $1 trial member method to be the best.)

My strategy is a medium priced product with a free 30 day membership and then a OTO for a product of lesser value but will work in conjunction with my main product.

This thread has helped me too - Great start.

I am going with a similar approach to Adeel and Charles...however the OTO will be a gold, platinum or diamond monthly subscription...with the diamon being the real shiny one!

I went with option 2 and tried variations of option 1. Option 1 has worked better.

If any of you purchased the Continuity Blueprint, this is something that Ryan Deiss discusses as well. A low price front end and continuity. Then upsell a larger package or more features.

I've just reach capacity for my first season of coaching on my program, but plan on going back to option 1 with the next release in a month or so.
