Do you know what it was like to be born more than one hundred years ago, in an illiterate society, with no electricity, and up-to-date facilities? Can you imagine a time when there were no telephones, cell phones, television, and not even radio? How would you have managed to travel to work without motor- cars and any form of transportation? Could you have survived on an income of two dollars a month? Would you have taken a menial job to supplement this?
This book is written to record the life of a great Educator – Dr. Andrew Moonir Khan who rose to great heights from a humble upbringing despite several setbacks in his life, and the primitive times in which he lived.
Dr. Khan started writing his memoirs a few months prior to his death in 1975, but unfortunately his call by his Maker prevented him from publishing it. In 1989 the author of this book compiled a book from his diaries and other hand-written papers to be distributed to friends and relatives. That book was never published for the wider public. This book is a revision of the former version.
Dr. Khan was one of the pioneers of Education in Trinidad and Tobago. He believed in Education and because of his dedication and devotion as a teacher and Headmaster at the elementary school level, many men and women moved on to attain successful careers in the highest professional fields in Trinidad and Tobago and abroad.
Dr. Khan was a God=fearing man and readers will be amazed at what his family discovered in his desk drawer after his death.
