Got invited to be a JV and I liked the product right away

As a JV newbie and a student of all things internet marketing, I freely admit that I don't know what the hell I'm doing here. All I know is that I had always known that there was some secret network of affiliates that knew something before I did and well, here I am.
As someone who started off reading Corey Rudl YEARS ago (when I should have been reading my Circuits book instead), I knew that affiliate marketing was the way to go but the question as HOW! It's taken me about 15 years to find this network and I am hoping it won't take me 15 years to make money from it.
We'll see because I got a JV invite that I accepted and I plan to work it as much as I can. Will this be a cake walk as the merchant would have me believe? Will I see my name up on the leaderboard as being a top affiliate making thousands at the blink of an eye? Will I make over a quarter of a million $ in 60 days like the guy the merchant mentioned in his video? I said I didn't know what I was doing, not that I was stupid, naive or impractical
My confidence right now is low and very confused because I am starting at square 0 and have to carve my own path despite being a member of this "secret" network. So as I go on this journey, I will attempt to share what I learn from this process on my blog, my guest posts and, of course, here.
There's a lot to get to...here goes the learning curve! God help us all

You should decide whether your focus is going to be building email lists +/or feed subscribers (which are both a given as far as I'm concerned) and what methods you're going to use to drive traffic to your subscribe forms and feed links, and just as important ... building a relationship with your audience as it grows while
