Hello

A launch in December is something I have been wondering about, is it sure to fail or just not live up to what it could do?

Is anybody else going to shoot of Dec?

Would it be a good idea since fewer people will be launching?

Any thoughts?

Thanks
Charles

I've seen several launches in December that have done just fine.

I would personally do my best to not land on a December launch...but if it happened, then so be it. I think for the most part, a December launch wouldn't be a real issue. You can always put things on your sales letter that play that angle as well (i.e. talk about them buying themselves a Christmas present etc.).

Alot would also depend on price IMO...if it's a high ticket item, I'd personally be more hesitant to purchase in December, and would bet that there would be a good percentage of others who would be similarly influenced. If the price isn't high though, it wouldn't have any bearing on whether I made the purchase or not. If I'm interested in something, I'm going to be interested whether it's July or December. So long as the price point isn't something that would take justification to myself, I wouldn't be swayed either way.

Sincerely,

Chris

I have no statistics on December launches but I would not launch anything after december 10. People really start having their head around other topics then. Also the first half of january is a time that I would not prefer for a launch.

I'm not saying you won't have any sales, I just think it's not the best time.

Hi Charles,

I agree that December may not be the best time to launch. We are launching our next wellness related teleseminar intensive on Nov. 8th (with weekly speakers) and are building in breaks for the holidays.

We did something similar several months ago and the breaks didn't seem to make a difference in our teleseminar attendance figures, as long as I gave our subscribers plenty of heads-up emails that we were not having our usual calls those weeks.

But, as I have so often (and at times so painfully) learned, you will never know for sure unless you test it!

Best regards,
Ellen

Charles,

Personally I've decided on an early December launch.

I was a little concerned at first about people being distracted
by the holidays, but that's generally more of an issue later in the
month. But then...

Product launch expert Jeff Walker recently released a video
about the best times of the year for launches. I thought it
was pretty interesting.

Generally the best times of year to launch are Oct., early Dec.
and Jan.

Pretty much that whole range of months from Oct through
Jan are good months to launch. With exceptions right
around specific holidays.

These are just general theories based on his past experiences
and those of others.

Of course, there are other variables and exceptions to the
rule. Product seasonality, less competition with other launches,
etc.

John Reese did his million-dollars-in-18-hours launch in Jul
or Aug, I believe.

ACTUALLY,

If you present your offer in a certain way you can use December
as a justification to purchase ;)

"Since Christmas is just around the corner and you know you
deserve to get something that you truly need."

People will purchase year round if you:

1: Tell them why to.
2. Show them how to buy now.
3. Congratulate them on making a wise investment.

One other little tip ....

Collect birthdates...

Send them a Birthday card with a OTO just because it's
their birthday :)

Out of all the lists I am on there is only one who actually
sent me a Birthday Greeting today for my birthday tomorrow.

That's powerful, go and use it don't abuse it.

Richard

PS. Be creative and be envolved

I want to thank everybody for there advice. Since I'm going with a very high dollar product ($997) I'm going to wait untill January for the big day.

Thanks

Thanks for posting that calender Chris!

As someone who is familiar with Jeff's materials, I was very happy to see this additional piece of information!

As Jeff and I have livelihoods that compliment each other very well, I've had the luxury of working with Mr. Walker many times over the years ... we may actually be putting out a product in 2008, together ... so keep a lookout. ;)

I agree with many of the responses, here ... and as Richard mentioned, I've often used lines like "Why Not Give Your Friends And Loved Ones The Gift That Keeps On Giving? ..." and others, to keep affiliate product sales moving through the holidays.

Best,

Mike

It was in August 2004; I don't remember the exact date. I'm sure that one would have done well no matter what time of year it was done.
