You should decide whether your focus is going to be building email lists +/or feed subscribers (which are both a given as far as I'm concerned) and what methods you're going to use to drive traffic to your subscribe forms and feed links, and just as important ... building a relationship with your audience as it grows while figuring out the right balance of free and promotional content delivery. As the size and responsiveness of your list(s) grows, and you become more of a factor when promoting potential JV Partner offers, you will be qualifying yourself. Once you have a product of your own (if you decide to go that route), you should have far less trouble securing support from JV Partners you've aided on launches in the past.
As much as Mike would like to think this is generic advice, I think this is just what I needed to hear. My goal is to create lists, build relationships with my subscribers and hae them convert. But I need to start somewhere. The temptation is to ask questions and ask more questions. While there is nothing wrong with that, I find that sometimes it's more of a procrastination technique. You ask because you don't think you can move until you get that one piece of information that is the key to everything. As soon as Ponce de Leon finds the Fountain Of Youth, I'll find that info.
Here's where I start: I know where I want to be, I just need to start building my list while promoting these opportunities. Eventually, the two will merge and it will be less of a mission, as Mike said.
But again, I can't get there if I don't start here and now. No fear because really, I've fallen before so all I need to do is get back up, right?
