View Full Version : Weight Loss Niche – Ask Before I Launch

I am "cooking" 2 ebooks for the weight loss niche. One of them (recipe ebook for a specific type of food on a specific popular diet) is about to be "Medium-Well" in a few days, and the other (an ebook that describe a fun and maybe profitable way to keep on with your diet plan) will just go to the "oven" in a few days…so it'll take a while.

I wondered maybe it can be a good idea, to ask potential JVs and affiliates, a couple of questions, which eventually will help us all to success with those products.

So here are some of my thoughts/questions:

•What is a good price point to a recipe book (about 100 recipes with nice graphic design, probably about 70-100 pages)
•What other marketing material (articles, banners, etc.) will be needed by JV and affiliates in order to market it to their:
o List
o Blog
o Forum
o Other?

•Other requirements??? Please feel free (and welcome) to add yours.

Thanks for participating.

Hey David

Normally recipe ebooks don't sell that well
from my testing.

Unless there's something else to make it
stand out like a story behind each recipe with
feedback and results plus a cool name (South
Beach Diet, Atkins Diet and so on).

JVs and affiliates like to have lots of clearly
labeled marketing materials so yes to articles,
banners and the most important is email copy.

For price ask your list Twitter or Facebook for
what they'd like to pay.

Other stuff you may want to do is test if the
offer converts and say if there are any upsells.

Hi,

Price point will be good to determine by looking at your competitors. But if you 100% sure that your recipes is far better than your competitors, and you could provide reasons for that to your customers, then you can sell them higher than your competitors.

For weight loss niches, wordpress template will be great additional affiliate resources.

Good luck with your product

David

Why was the book created ? To fill in a gap or improve on a specific niche? Or because it was a 'good idea' to create the book?

Pricing is usually easier when product creation has a specific aim behind it - I'm wondering what purpose the book was created for - beyond 'help lose weight' which is too generic.

>> What other marketing material (articles, banners, etc.) will be needed by JV and affiliates in order to market it to their:

review articles
a series of promo emails they can add to autoresponder
thank you page graphical banner
standard variety of banners (namely 125x125 button banners)
exit pop window they can add to their pages
short text ads for text links, facebook statuses, tweets, signatures
rebrandable PDF
videos (you walking someone through the contents of a physical copy of the same book?)

But typically a couple of graphics, a couple of emails/articles and a couple of short text ads is enough to get you started quite well.

David,
I’m also in this niche; my personal opinion is recipe books don’t sell to well. It would though however be a potential up sale for you. That is how I would market it. As far as jv’s you are going to need different size banners, emails for autoresponders, text ads, Those are the basics to get it going. Also you could add some keywords for them. Get ahold of me I would love to see your offer.

I have tried to market 2 different receipt books with minimal success.

The issue with the recipe book is you can get
most recipes for free.

The upsell idea is so far the best way to sell a
recipe book.

Hey David

Since you have a recipe ebook ...

One good strategy is if you can a video of you doing a low fat dish ...Make it interesting and have a unique angle to it.

Watermark it.

Upload the video to you and give it to your affiliates to post it on their blogs and websites..

Success will depend on how entertaining the video is ... but it can start you traffic..

It really depends.

First you need to look how good your diet plans or ebooks are. If you are fitness guy or a personal trainer...you can ask quite a lot. I have seen professional diet plans and ebooks up to $120 per report. And that's just a short report what covers dieting and they can customize their own diet plans.

If your ebook is put together from research and free articles...you can't ask much. There are so many recipes out there, so your ones needs to stay out from crowd. You need to make them special.

I don't think these type of ebooks sell as well as they used to on websites any more.
If it was me, I would download the kindle app creator from Amazon and get the books transferred into this format and get them on Amazon. Don't ask a lot for them but build a list with the sale of the book and when you have a list, you can market to them with other related affiliate offers.

If you don't know how to do it, get someone from rent a coder or elance to do it for you.

The sale of kindles was one of the biggest sellers over Christmas and the iphone and android phones all can support the kindle app.

Hope this helps
Martin
